Pastor Mark Burns knocked crowds dead on the campaign trail for Donald Trump throughout 2016, and now he wants to take his show to Washington D.C. The South Carolina native is looking to represent the 4th District of his state in Congress.
“The movement is here! It’s alive. It’s well, and the liberal left has no idea what’s about to smack them in the face,” Burns said to a room of about 30 onlookers in a suite at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center during the Conservative Political Action Conference yesterday. He announced his candidacy earlier in the week.
Burns said, “The liberal left using color politics and political correctness that is getting us focused on the issues that really don’t matter, but we got to get back to the issues that our forefathers had when they wrote the great Constitution, and we created the greatest nation in the world which is the United States of America!”
Burns was joined at the event by Sebastian Gorka, the FOX News contributor who formerly served as Trump’s deputy assistant. He sang the praises of Burns and gave him a full-throated endorsement.
“This is why Donald Trump won,” Gorka said while pointing to Burns. “This is sincerity. I’ve said it before, I’ve said it again: I hate talking after this man!”
“If you’re an American, you live in the greatest country in God’s Earth. You and your family and your loved ones should be safe and should prosper, and this is exactly the kind of man who is going to help us drain the swamp here in DC,” Gorka said while referring to Burns.
“Make America Great Again is not about November the 8th. It’s not about one person. It’s about all of us. It’s about team effort,” Gorka said, urging Trump supporters to “share the love of country with your fellow Americans” in order to make Burns the replacement in Congress for the retiring Trey Gowdy.
