Months of electoral chaos, endless controversy, and furious insults have ended with the American people making their decision. Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump has been elected as the next President of the United States, in a stunning upset after many pundits had said this was Hillary Clinton’s coronation night.
Trump’s improbable rise this election cycle has left the political mainstream and elite mystified. Since the early days of the wide open battle in Iowa, many had declared the controversial businessman to be a fringe candidate without a prayer. As he knocked other candidates out of the race and accumulated delegates, fear struck all of the detractors who underestimated.
Could Trump win?
The story was the same with the general election. Controversy after controversy didn’t stop the outsider-turned-contender. Pundits, career politicians and the elite all declared that he couldn’t win. For all his mean words and hurt feelings, America would never elect him.
As the night dragged on, it became increasingly clear that this was not the case. The blunt talk, the big wall, the no-nonsense approach to “the swamp” in Washington D.C. All of it, America embraced.
Now it is official, Donald Trump is President-Elect of the United States of America. The country has deleted Hillary Clinton’s path to victory.
