The College Republicans have embraced the transgender community by reaching out to Caitlyn Jenner to speak at their national conference next week. She was recently announced as a speaker for the gala event.
“BIG NEWS: [Caitlyn Jenner]. #CRNC2017. Mic Drop. BE THERE,” the College Republican National Committee announced in a tweet on Tuesday.
While Republicans may have opposed the LGBTQ agenda in the past, this move indicates that the College Republicans are changing their strategy and distancing themselves from social conservatism. The American Conservative Union had booked homosexual technology reporter Milo Yiannopoulos to keynote their annual Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year before abruptly canceling him after a media-driven controversy. Republican politics are clearly evolving with the times, and core principles may be an unfortunate casualty in this shift.
Jenner was promoted by progressives as a hero for trans rights, but they forgot to take into consideration his long-time Republican views. Jenner used his refreshed stardom to push for Republican causes, and publicly professed his support for Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign last year. However, Jenner’s support comes with strings attached.
“Yes, I did vote for Trump, but here’s the deal breaker with the Republican party. And the deal breaker is, you mess with my community . . . you don’t give us equality and a fair shot, I’m coming after you,” Jenner said in a “20/20” interview recorded in March.
Trump offended Jenner by terminating Obama’s federal guidelines permitting trans students to use the bathroom of their choosing. Jenner supports what she calls “federal guidance” to mandate favors and benefits for trans people, and works to influence the Republican Party on behalf of his special interest. This is what the College Republicans, whether knowingly or unknowingly, will be aiding and abetting by having Jenner as a part of their program.
The event will take place from Thurs, Jun. 15 to Sun, Jun. 18, and tickets are still available at the cost of $150. It will be taking place at the Washington Mariott Metro Center located at 775 12th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20005.

Gross
Embracing a famed athlete, public figure and prominent Republican to speak for a more tolerant and inclusive GOP. Good for the College Republicans.
So tokenism is your thing?
No, getting famous Republicans to speak at a College Republican convention, especially those who can help to expand the party and further recognition among young people who are more tolerant, is a good thing.
This country is lost. The nature of graduates of “higher learning” is despicable. These are the imbeciles who are our future “leaders”?
