Hayley Geftman-Gold, who previously served as a vice president and senior legal counsel for CBS in New York, was fired from her job after she made comments seemingly condoning the senseless act of terrorism that took place in Las Vegas this weekend.
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that [Republicans] will ever do the right thing,” Geftman-Gold said in a social media post that was later deleted. “I’m actually not even sympathetic [because] country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
Once these comments went viral, she was forced to apologize and CBS New York announced that she was terminated. The vicious attack of a country music festival at the Mandalay Bay left 50 people dead with over 400 others injured.
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS,” the company said in a press release.
“Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”
Although CBS pays lip service right now in the midst of a public relations nightmare, they are culpable for creating an environment where such callous views are considered mainstream. In the wake of Donald Trump’s shocking Presidential victory last year, media entities such as CBS have delegitimized the President at every turn – going as far as promulgating a Russian conspiracy that makes McCarthyism look tempered by comparison that they have pushed baselessly for many months.
As a result of this biased and irresponsible coverage, leftists are becoming radicalized and unhinged. Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, believed to be the Las Vegas shooter, is rumored to have strong leftist ties. The wanna-be mass murderer who attempted to massacre the entire GOP congressional delegation at a baseball practice earlier this year, James Hodgkinson, was confirmed to be a Bernie Sanders supporter and far-left Democratic Party voter.
Until CBS and other mainstream media outlets stop with their insane witch hunt against Trump and actually report the news in an even-minded manner, the blood will remain on their hands for the mass shootings that have occurred and any others that occur in the future.
