Politics can be a dirty game, but much of what happens off the field can be worse. While many politicians have a diverse number of skeletons in their closets, few in recent memory match up to Anthony Weiner. The former New York Congressman was forced out of office after he lied about sending lewd pictures of himself to women on Twitter.
This would not be Weiner’s last incident. He was more recently caught sending pictures of himself lying in bed with his toddler son and even sending lewd pictures to a 15-year-old girl. The activity involving the minor is not only incredibly immoral, but it is also illegal.
On September 25th, the former Congressman will be sentenced for sexting a minor and using an alias to have Skype sessions with her. While posing as “T-Dog,” the pervert discussed his rape fantasies and encouraged her to send pictures of her in a schoolgirl uniform.
This problem is two-fold. The former Democratic congressman victimized both minors and women. He represents everything the Democratic Party is supposed to revile.
For someone like Hillary Clinton, this issue seems like it would be a no-brainer. During the previous presidential election, she sold herself as being a voice for women everywhere. The narrative portrayed then-candidate Donald Trump as a danger to women.
Given these views, Clinton should certainly have strong feelings regarding Weiner and his illicit sexcapades, right?
The former Democratic presidential candidate was asked on WNYC’s “The Brian Lehrer Show” whether she believed Weiner deserved jail time. The obvious answer for many people is that a child predator should be disciplined by the law for trying to bait an underage woman into sexual activity.
Clinton simply replied by saying, “I really don’t have any comment on any of that.”
It’s disturbing that a candidate who portrayed herself as the great defender of women has no view on this. When Trump was merely heard making inappropriate comments, Clinton and others were quick to denounce him as a predator. But when a Democratic politician was actually caught targeting an underage girl, she says nothing.
On the other hand, it’s not entirely surprising considering she is married to Bill Clinton. The former President of the United States has been involved with more sexual scandals than the sitting President and has a questionable history like Anthony Weiner himself.
Did Clinton ever stand up for the women that her husband allegedly victimized? Not a single time.
Clinton once again reminds us why she lost. She cannot take important stands when they are needed and is only concerned with herself and her ambitions. She will go on television and talk radio to talk about how everything is everybody’s fault but her own, but she will not disavow a known child predator.
For Clinton, as its always been, it’s all about her. The only crime in her warped mind is that Weiner’s sexual habits distracted from her campaign and apparently helped derail it.
But what about the 15-year-old girl who was targeted by Anthony Weiner? Does Hillary Clinton believe she deserves any protection? Does she believe that the child predator who targeted this young girl should face consequences for his actions? This is an extreme question of Clinton’s character. Child predators should be easy to denounce, and their tactics should be punished swiftly by the law.
