Hollywood Sexual Assault Culture Is Collapsing Like A House Of Cards

Sex crimes are nothing new for Hollywood. For years, there has been an alleged culture of pedophilia, and Hollywood certainly has its share of child predators. Former child actor Corey Feldman has recently made waves of trying to expose this, threatening to turn up the heat, and reveal those who victimized him as a child. The rampant sex crimes aren’t just limited to children though, as exposed by the recent wave of Harvey Weinstein allegations. One after another, women are coming forward and gaining strength off one another.

Whereas the powerful names in the Hollywood elite were once protected, everything now seems to be falling apart.

Recently, Star Trek Discovery actor Anthony Rapp added his name to the list of victims. Rapp recently discussed an incident that involved an apparently intoxicated Kevin Spacey back in 1986, when Rapp was just 14 years old. After a party, Spacey allegedly made unwanted sexual advances and made Rapp feel quite uncomfortable with the entire sordid episode.

The backlash against Spacey has been strong, and the result has been Netflix pulling the hit show that put them on the map as a content creator, House of Cards.

As the accusations continue to roll out against various figures, it’s become increasingly clear that for years Hollywood has fed a culture of sexual assault. Some question why it takes years for these victims to come forward, but it’s a difficult position to be in. Furthermore, some of the sexual predators are huge names in Hollywood.

Harvey Weinstein is a famous film producer and now former executive, responsible for helping create numerous big name films in Hollywood. He co-founded Miramax alongside his brother Bob and produced iconic films like Clerks and Pulp Fiction. He was also co-chair of The Weinstein Company alongside his brother until the allegations surfaced.

When you’re just an actor or actress attempting to make it in Hollywood, standing up to those at the top can be hard.

Rapp said in his interview he only felt the courage to come forward after hearing about all the women standing up to Weinstein. Though his account is decades old, people have backed up that it happened. Actress Erin Quill stated Rapp told her back in 1992 what happened and that the story is legitimate.

Who will be the next Weinstein or Spacey to be outed?

Corey Feldman is still sitting on the names of those who abused him as a child. Legal issues have complicated the revelations, but he said his day is coming. He’s currently raising money to fund a movie exposing a Hollywood sex ring of pedophiles.

Hollywood has long been considered an elite level of society. They fund prominent liberal political causes and act as a financial pillar for the Democratic Party. Celebrities were once considered figures to be admired, with regular people fawning over the intimate details of their lives. But the culture of superiority in Hollywood seems to be crashing down as the hidden underbelly of their industry comes to light.

After Weinstein, Spacey and others, the Hollywood sexual assault culture seems to be collapsing like a house of cards.
