In Search of Monsters

The Democrats in Washington D.C. have been loud about impeaching President Donald Trump for a six month period. It seems to be their one trick pony. In fact, those on the Left are even calling out the blatant obviousness. In an article published on CNBC, a columnist stated that:

“Getting back to the Democrats, their entire agenda can now be summed up as: Impeachment, resignation or bust. They’ve put all their eggs in this basket. And if they fail, a lot of their voters will clearly ask what good the current leadership is if it can’t even oust a man so much of the Democratic base sees as nothing short of the devil.”

It’s fair to study the constitutionality behind an impeachment and their claims for it. First, they invoke Article II Section 4 of the Constitution, which states:

“The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Essentially, the Democrats have created a narrative that President Trump colluded with the Russians in order to win the election. It has been political grandstanding and kabuki theater at its worst. For months, we’ve seen many accusations turn up to be dead ends. One example of the failed witch hunt is the Director of the Defense Agency speaking with Chuck Todd on NBC, in essence, stating that there has been no evidence found to suggest that the Trump administration has colluded with the Russians.

To be fair, President Trump isn’t doing himself any favors – with poor political timing and the way that he communicates, it often seems to make even his own staff’s job more difficult.  For example, in the Comey memo where it states, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” Which, while not illegal, is horrible politics. In fact, even Director Comey has testified that he never felt pressured to close an investigation.

This has caused the mainstream media and D.C.’s failed witch hunt to shift. They are now trying to invoke mental illness for grounds of dismissal. Democrats are invoking the 25th Amendment Section 4, which states:

“Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”

Democrats are acting according to the mantra “by any means necessary.” Wherever there’s smoke they yell “FIRE!”. In search of monsters, they’ve given themselves up. The danger in setting up witch hunts to oust an elected official is that it undermines the election process and destroys our republic. When we no longer control our government but it controls us: we have tyranny.
