Joe Biden cares more about the North Atlantic Treaty than Constitution

It’s always interesting to hear a member of the Obama Administration insult the intelligence of another human being. Especially in the case of Vice President Joe Biden, an individual who has established a reputation as being a lite version of Donald Trump. He often doesn’t think before he speaks, and although he hasn’t called for deporting an entire religion, he has his record. But what is a “big [expletive] deal”, in the words of the Vice President, is his lack of concern for the Constitution.

In a recent speech, Vice President Biden sought to reassure allies under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that the United States would continue to have their back. In addition to this point, he also took a swipe at the Republican Presidential Nominee by stating he didn’t understand Article 5.

Under the treaty, Article 5 affirms that all signatories will protect each other. More importantly, an attack on one member is considered an attack on all members.

Trump has famously been taking shots at NATO as part of his America First agenda. Selling himself as an opponent to globalization and foreign entanglements, Trump has been stating repeatedly that America should put America first.

This is what Vice President Biden sought to oppose and it’s sad. Has he ever sought to genuinely assure the American people that the Constitution will be respected and that they actually understand the document?

Even if he had, it would be a lie. The Obama Administration has been openly hostile to the Constitution from the start and likely wont have a change of heart before the finish line. While Americans thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse than the Bush Administration, President Obama and his allies took the challenge and excelled at it.

Was the Constitution a matter of concern when the Obama Administration supported the USA PATRIOT Act? How about when President Obama openly stated he would bypass Congress on immigration if they didn’t bend to his will? What about when the Obama Administration opposed National Security Administration whistle-blower Edward Snowden, someone who former Secretary of State and current Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has said should be prosecuted?

There are also the issues of foreign entanglements, undeclared conflicts, and drone strikes in other countries. Has Congress authorized any new wars? They actually haven’t officially authorized war since World War II. From Korea to Iraq, and everything in-between (as well as likely to come), they have failed to obtain congressional authorization as required by the Constitution.

When is Vice President Biden going to assure the American people that the Constitution matters? When is Vice President Biden going to reaffirm the Obama Administration’s respect for the Constitution to the American people?

While it’s only natural that the Vice President of the United States would seek to reassure allies under a treaty, it’s disturbing that he has never taken the Constitution as seriously as he does the North AtlanticTreaty. This is disturbing because while the North Atlantic Treaty protects foreign allies, the Constitution itself protects the American people and their freedom.

Does the Obama Administration really care that little about the American people?
