North Korea Releases Doctored Propaganda Depicting Attack On United States

Tensions between the United States and North Korea are without question at an all-time high. After years of diplomatic concessions to the North Koreans, the Trump Administration has altered course on foreign policy and adopted a much more aggressive approach. “Rocket Man,” as President Donald Trump has dubbed North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, has not responded well. With missiles being shot over Japan and the United States flying jets over North Korean territory as demonstrations of force, tensions are escalating to dangerous levels.

The possibility for military action or even full scale war has appeared possible for some time now.

North Korea has now released a doctored propaganda video depicting an attack on the USS Carl Vinson, a United States nuclear-powered supercarrier. The footage also shows United States fighter jets being destroyed in midair.

The USS Carl Vinson, named for a former Georgia Congressman, has been involved in a number of notable events in military history, including multiple conflicts. Osama bin Laden’s body was also buried at sea from the decks of this ship.

This comes as Anti-United States sentiment remains at a high within the country. North Korea held a rally on Saturday that reportedly had tens of thousands of people show up, according to the Associated Press. The North Korean official news agency, KCNA, claimed the rally attendance exceeded 100,000.

While tensions have been high, the propaganda depicting military aggression against the United States represents a new escalation. While it may just be an attempt to intimidate the United States, it could be a serious threat that North Korea will eventually strike the U.S. military or even the mainland.

Regardless of the spin coming from the White House, it is clear that Trump’s belligerent, instigating approach toward North Korea and their despotic communist ruler has not paid any dividends at the present time.
