While mainstream media reporters have been foaming at the mouth attempting to get President Trump to repeat their biased talking points all week, he went in the opposite direction at today’s press conference. While deriding Nazis and white supremacists, Trump also bashed what he calls the “alt-left” as well as offering a defense for “Unite the Right” protesters who merely wanted to preserve historical statues.
“What about the alt-left that came charging at the, as you say, the alt-right. Do they have any semblance of guilt?” Trump asked reporters after getting grilled over his response to this weekend’s madness in Charlottesville. President Trump was just getting warmed up.
“Let me ask you this: What about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands swinging clubs. Do they have any problems? I think they do,” Trump said. “So as far as I’m concerned, that was a horrible, horrible day.”
Trump was interrupted after he uttered that remark by a loud-mouthed reporter, which gave him the opportunity to sling one of his patented zingers.
“I’m not finished, fake news,” Trump said to the man before continuing to rant.
“I will tell you something. I watched this very closely… You had a group on one side that was bad, and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent. And nobody wants to say that, but I’ll say it right now,” Trump said.
The reporters in the room were appalled by Trump’s brash statements, but the facts back his story up. Livestreams of the event show ANTIFA and other leftists looking for a fight–hurling mace, bricks, urine, and feces at “Unite the Right” protesters. The cops, at the behest of the liberal mayor and governor, refused to keep the peace which resulted in the entire city devolving into a war zone.
Trump went on to defend “Unite the Right” protesters by stating that not every person in attendance was a neo-Nazi or white nationalist, making the reporters shriek even further. He explained his sentiments in full detail.
Trump said, “Those people were also there because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue [of] Robert E. Lee… So, this week it’s Robert E. Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson’s coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself: Where does it stop?”
Although the mainstream media and even most conservatives and libertarians are too gutless and afraid to tell the truth about what happened in Charlottesville, Trump was willing to bring some balance to this unfair debate driven by the fake news.
