As liberals and neoconservatives run victory laps over Steve Bannon’s dismissal (or resignation) from the Trump administration, they should be careful not to get ahead of themselves. Bannon is ready to unleash hades on his enemies, meeting with billionaires shortly after returning to Breitbart to discuss the possibility of launching a TV network.
Jane Mayer, a New Yorker staff reporter, has covered Robert and Rebekah Mercer extensively. They are the right-wing billionaires who fund Breitbart and rose through their association with Trump to become perhaps the most prominent financiers in the conservative movement. Mayer reported that Robert Mercer and Bannon met on Wednesday in Long Island to discuss the idea of Breitbart TV.
“Steve Bannon’s next moves will be all about the billionaire Mercer family,” Jonathan Swan wrote in an Axios report. “I’m told Bannon, who visited New York this week, met with Bob Mercer and together they will be a well-funded force on the outside.”
Swan also reported that Bannon is prepared to go to war against the globalist infiltrators within the Trump administration, such as H.R. McMaster, Gary Cohn, and Jared Kushner. Bannon felt like he was being marginalized in the White House so with his billionaire backers fully behind him, he can get back in the saddle and really damage his enemies.
“I am definitely going to crush the opposition,” Bannon said to The Weekly Standard. “There’s no doubt. I built a f-cking machine at Breitbart. And now…we’re about to rev that machine up.”
The idea of the Mercer family supporting Trump’s presidency on the inside while simultaneously pushing media efforts from the outside to push Trump in the direction of hard-right populism already has liberal commentators weary.
“[Robert Mercer is] an inside supporter, but also going to be funding this hugely powerful outside movement to pressure Trump to go in the direction that he and Bannon want him to go,” Mayer said.
“I think [Bannon] knew he wasn’t going to be lasting as an insider for the long term,” Mayer added. “The Mercer fortune will be behind him, pushing this movement.”
Although Bannon may be gone from the White House, one thing is for sure: He does not plan to go quietly into the night. Bannon will continue to use the incredible talents and immense resources at his disposal to push Trump back toward his “America First” agenda, now in much more aggressive fashion as an outsider.
Do it!
If its from the left its “create”, if its from the right its “plot”? C’mon…
Plot? Lol
