CPAC’s Foes Hurl Fake Racism Charges At Right’s Venerable Gathering

American Conservative Union communications director Ian Walters, ACU chairman Matt Schlapp, and the ACU-sponsored Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) are being accused of racism due to Walters’ comments at last Friday’s Ronald Reagan dinner. These phony charges deserve rejection and scorn. I attended that banquet and watched Schlapp invite Walters to the stage for an unexpected honor — a sort of lifetime-achievement award that startled Walters and surprised the crowd. Visibly stunned, Walters observed that conservatives struggled to respond to Obama’s election in 2008. “That was a hill we got over,” Walters ad-libbed, “and it was something we were all… Keep Reading

Schumer Shutdown Debacle Reveals Dems’ Historical Cynicism And Racism

In addition to being a leftist icon, President Lyndon B. Johnson was an extraordinary vulgarian and a rabid racist. Prior to the passage of the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act, he is said to have told fellow Democratic power players that the bill would initiate a liberal golden age in which “those niggers” would be “voting Democratic for two hundred years.” An eccentric purported whore-monger at Snopes would have you believe that because this quote is “unproven” it is not worth taking seriously. Not long ago our current Commander-in-Chief is alleged to have referred to Haiti and Africa as “shitholes.”… Keep Reading

Before Her Husband Resigned, Monica Conyers Suggested His Critics Were Racist

The ongoing saga surrounding sexual misconduct in Washington D.C. has put the entire city in a difficult position. While Republicans have previously had candidates and politicians face allegations, the floodgates are opening up on Democrats. One of the most prominent examples is Congressman John Conyers, a prominent career politician who was considered a major leader in the Democratic Party. Allegations dropped suggesting that Conyers inappropriately touched female staffers repeatedly and made offensive comments to them in an attempt to make sexual advances. It’s disturbing that this would happen, period. He had to resign over the comments earlier today, and that… Keep Reading

Are The PC Police Now Coming For Halloween?

It’s almost impossible to not offend someone at any given time in modern America. People have become overly sensitive and the rise of political correctness is even targeting holidays. Christmas is being watered down and actively purged from society. Christmas trees are being renamed holiday trees, despite the tree festivity being clearly associated with Christmas. “Merry Christmas” greetings are morphing into “Happy Holidays,” out of fear someone may be offended by a positive greeting that refers to a specific holiday. Now it appears as though Halloween may be the next target for the PC police in our society. Halloween is… Keep Reading

Libertarian Party Chairman Slams Mises Institute, Links Holocaust Survivor To Nazism

In case any question remained as to whether non-leftist and paleolibertarian voices were welcomed in the Libertarian Party, LP Chairman Nicholas Sarwark made it clear in a recent Twitter battle with liberty movement voices associated with the Ludwig von Mises Institute. The institute’s President, Jeff Deist, was singled out in particular for ridicule. Attempting to deflect from his critics’ accusations of the LP being nothing more than a gargantuan black hole defined by a puerile obsession with marijuana, Sarwark shamefully accused the Mises Institute of “being the preferred choice of actual Nazis.“ Sarwark’s sensationalist accusation is distasteful not only for its… Keep Reading

The Racist History Of Minimum Wage Laws

In 1966, Milton Friedman wrote an op-ed for Newsweek entitled “Minimum Wage Rates.” In it, he argued “that the minimum-wage law is the most anti-Negro law on our statute books.” He was, of course, referring to the then-present era, after the far more explicitly racist laws from the eras of slavery and segregation had already been removed. Friedman’s observation about the racist effects of minimum wage laws can be traced back to the nineteenth century, and they continue to have a disproportionately deleterious effect on African-Americans into the present day. The earliest of such laws were regulations passed in regards… Keep Reading

If You’re Serious About Starting a Dialogue On Race, Talk To White People – Not At Them

I made it through the entire 2016 electoral cycle without writing a single article on race. I wrote nothing on Trayvon and Zimmerman, Ferguson, Baltimore, Black Lives Matter, or the KKK celebrating Trump’s election. I managed to avoid being targeted online by either BLM racists or alt-right “race realists” as I tried to navigate the turbulent waters of the most contentious election in recent memory. But the streak dies today, because after reading Rev. Derrick Keith Rollins Jr.’s article titled “What white people should do about systemic racism,” I realized we need to turn this decades-old race monologue into a… Keep Reading

An Honest Discussion Of Race, Can We Handle It?

“What a Truly Honest Discussion of Race Would Look Like” and which Obama and the Left would like to avoid On Thursday, July 14, Barack Obama held a nationally televised “town hall” meeting on American race relations—and, unsurprisingly, punted on that “honest” discussion of race that he and his ilk accuse the rest of us of deferring. A truly honest discussion of race, you see, threatens the Racism-Industrial-Complex (RIC) or, alternately, Big Racism. A truly honest discussion of race would mention that for virtually every kind of crime, blacks are perpetrators in numbers wildly out of proportion to their number… Keep Reading

Can The “Very Liberal” Celebrate Independence Day?

The week of Independence Day, Gersh Kuntzman of the Daily News, called for Major League baseball to permanently ban the playing of “God Bless America.” While conceding some of its virtues, Kuntzman laments that the classic jingle “embodies” some of “our worst things,” vices like “self-righteousness, forced piety,” and “earnest self-reverence.” Kuntzman approvingly alludes to a 2013 poll conducted by the author of a book on “God Bless America.” The poll found that 61% or so of those asked share Kuntzman’s judgment that the song should go the way of the dinosaur.  The real story here, though, is to be… Keep Reading
