Vladimir Putin Trolls the U.S. Deep State Yet Again, Offers Asylum to James Comey

Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be enjoying himself these days. With the United States political system in peril as Russian conspiracy fever takes hold, Putin cannot help but stir the pot from his home country. This time, he has done so by offering asylum to disgraced former FBI director James Comey.

“If he continues to be persecuted in this connection, we will be ready to provide political asylum to him, he should know about that,” Putin said on “The Direct Line,” his annual televised question-and-answer program with the Russian people.

Presently, Putin is giving asylum to famed NSA leaker Edward Snowden, who released groundbreaking revelations to the world showing the NSA’s true hacking capabilities. This made Snowden a hero to millions and a villain to millions more. Comey is a less divisive figure and has even served to unite bitter political enemies in shared mutual hatred toward himself. Indeed, it is difficult to think of a more universally reviled political figure than Comey in recent years.

Democrats blame Comey for giving the election to Trump and then refusing to divulge the dirt on him during his public hearings last week. On the other hand, Republicans blame Comey for refusing to prosecute Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, and other corrupt Obama administration officials. It seems like Comey cannot catch a break, until now. Although Putin knows Comey is a odd individual, he is still willing to lend a helping hand.

“This sounds strange when a secret service chief records his conversation with the commander-in-chief to hand the record to the media,” Putin said.

Putin never misses an opportunity to make hay of American political calamities, and he has a golden opportunity to sully his enemies in the U.S. Deep State yet again. If Comey should be prosecuted, he may have a friend in the Kremlin that will be willing to bail him out.
