Why Everyone Reacted Inappropriately To Trump’s Transgender Military Ban

On July 26, 2017, President Donald Trump announced a ban on transgender individuals from joining the military. Trump’s announcement was met by praise from the Right and hate from the Left. In response, leftists continued to use their same-old Hitler comparisons and acted like this was the worst thing to happen in American history. But on the other side of the aisle, the religious right applauded this announcement and proclaimed that this was just another tactic in making America great again. Overall, I believe that the response from both sides of the political spectrum revealed that the Left continues to be shrouded in lunacy, and the Right doesn’t really understand what this ban could mean.

Ultimately, everyone in America overreacted to an announcement that isn’t even policy. People on the Left and Right need to come terms with the fact that Trump’s announcement came in Tweets. This was not a House Bill, a Senate Bill, nor was it even a press conference, it was just another example of Trump’s early-morning bickering. The fact that the Left reacted in such a strong way only exemplified their ignorance because they sincerely believe that this is now the law of the land. One must remember that these are the same folks who think that Trump’s impeachment will mean that he is kicked out of office, and Hillary will become president. As for the Right, they need to get over themselves because just like a lot of Trump’s announcements, this may turn out to be a mess.

In addition, too many people seemed to miss out on a really important question: were there any transgender individuals even really planning on joining the military? Sure, there is already a transgender population in the military, but I couldn’t help but wonder why so many people had reacted as if it affected them personally. Unless a large number of transgenders were going to enlist immediately, I really don’t see how this is even relevant to the Left. It’s much ado about nothing.

Despite the asinine reaction of the Left, the Right also had a foolish reaction of their own. People on the Right who support the ban must realize that this is essentially government-enforced segregation by identity. Although I firmly believe that the logic behind being transgender is immensely flawed, I also believe that to serve in the military is a choice best left for the individual. The fact that President Trump wants the government to make the choice for transgender individuals should already have conservatives frightened. In other words, I do not believe Trump’s ban is conservative nor is it pro-liberty.

In general, Trump’s ban leads the way for more authoritarianism. I firmly believe that serving in the military is not a choice the government should make, and we should allow anyone who wants to serve to do so as long as they can meet the physical requirements. Even though the Left may have some credibility in getting angry, many of their claims are based upon their own ignorance and fantasy that many transgender individuals actually want to join the military. Upon looking at this event objectively, I realize that much of the talk about Trump’s ban is worthless jargon to further inflame partisan passions.

  1. 1. Military IS GOVERNMENT – and is one of the few things many people consider a legitimate function, but it is NOT a social policy. It has a specific purpose. It is a reason there are almost no women firefighters – I don’t know of any, union or volunteer.
    2. If you have ANY disability you can’t join the military. If you have Gender Dysphoria (and haven’t transitioned) – and even Lady Gaga noted a large portion committed suicide, so it is a serious mental condition – you can’t join the military because you have problems dealing with the reality of your body. You need to be psychologically tough. The Military doesn’t take in criminals, those with bipolar disorder, OCD or the rest.
    3. If you have Gender Dysphoria and HAVE transitioned, you need a constant supply of hormones to keep your body in its altered state. The military shouldn’t be forced to provide it and we don’t let diabetics who need insulin constantly in the military either. Physical requirements exclude them.
    4. Has ANY Transgender advocate said “Fine, You don’t have to pay for anything related to transitioning and I’ll use the facilities of my current biological sex until I’m out”. What they do with their own money after leaving the military isn’t my business. But they can’t go in and expect me to pay for their whims any more than something like liposuction.
    5. No one knows you have gender dysphoria until you reveal it yourself. If you want to join, just do so and act like your bio-gender and shut up about it.

  2. Why? Because you don’t issues Executive Orders by tweet. Because they spend 10x more on Viagra. It is never inappropriate to laugh in dirision at this fool of a bumpkin called The Trumpkin. By the way your site is misnamed. Russian propaganda but not liberty or conservatisim.
