Rand Paul Slams Ultimate Budget Deal As “Massive, Bloated, Secretive”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has expressed his opposition to the bi-partisan deal to keep the federal government open as a waste of taxpayer funds, as well as President Donald Trump’s decision to announce a state of emergency to acquire funds for a border wall. “I’m disappointed with both the massive, bloated, secretive bill that just passed and with the president’s intention to declare an emergency to build a wall,” Paul announced. Although he previously praised Trump’s negotiating prowess in acquiring border security funds, he was dismayed by both the overall level of spending in the final legislation and the procedural… Keep Reading

Rand Paul: Trump’s Wall Deal Is “Big Victory” Over Democrats

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) praised President Donald Trump’s deal with congressional Democrats as a major concession by the opposition to Trump’s drive for border security funding. “I think in the end, Trump won a big victory here, because everybody else had folded,” Paul told Breitbart News. “At Christmastime, everybody else was folding, and just saying, ‘Oh the Democrats gained control of the House, this is the best that we’ll ever do.’ So he got $1.375 billion for border security that wasn’t in there before.” Keep Reading

Trump: Time to go Nuclear…on the Dems

President Trump on Sunday continued to blast Democrats over immigration throughout the showdown and urged Republicans to make use of the “Nuclear Option” to achieve a long-term resolution. “Great to see how hard Republicans are fighting for our Military and Safety at the Border. The Dems just want illegal immigrants to pour into our nation unchecked,” the president wrote on Twitter. “If stalemate continues, Republicans should go to 51% (Nuclear Option) and vote on real, long term budget, no C.R.’s!,” he posted. Democrats and Republicans have been at loggerheads because the Senate didn’t pass a temporary spending bill – a C.R., or… Keep Reading

Cryin’ Chuck Schumer Can’t Handle Negotiating With Trump

The White House traded salvos with Senate Democrats Saturday as each side dug into opposing positions as the first day of the federal government shutdown dragged on.     “[Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer is going to have to up his game and become more honest with the president of the United States,” Office of Management and Budget director Mick Mulvaney mentioned in an afternoon press conference. Mulvaney and White House legislative director Marc Short emphasised that negotiations over immigration policy – together with the fate of individuals within the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program who had been brought to… Keep Reading

Trump on Shutdown: Dems Give Me The Best Presents….Beautiful Presents

The federal government shutdown is a present from Democrats, President Trump joked amid a string of early Saturday tweets, pinning blame for the stalemate on Democrats and pushing for more Republicans to be elected. “Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border. They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead. #WeNeedMoreRepublicansIn18 in order to power through mess!” he tweeted at 6:17 a.m. He followed up with a joke on the first anniversary of his inauguration. Dems Threaten Government Shutdown as Deadline Looms

Senate Democrats stated Thursday that they had sufficient votes to stiffle a GOP short-term budget deal — increasing the probability of a government shutdown as Friday’s midnight deadline loomed. A senior Senate Democratic aide informed the Washington Post it was “almost certain” spending extension doesn’t have the votes to pass the upper chamber. The Democrats need the bill to include aid for the Dreamers — immigrants brought here illegally as kids and who have been protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Paul Ryan & Mitch McConnell Fight Against a Government Shutdown

House Speaker Paul Ryan tried pressuring Democrats on Wednesday to support legislation stopping a government shutdown this weekend — but additionally confronted resistance from conservative Republicans, casting doubt on any deal. Ryan gave little ground within the partisan battle over the destiny of the Dreamers, an issue many Democrats say have to be resolved prior to a vote to keep federal agencies functioning.       A day after conservatives expressed opposition to the short-term spending bill and mentioned GOP leaders lacked the votes to move it, Ryan declined to say if he had sufficient Republican support to push it by way of… Keep Reading
