President Donald Trump today appeared to declare war on the members of the Freedom Caucus, stating on Twitter that “the Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2o18.” While it is still unclear what the President meant by his remarks, the fact that he chose to group the Freedom Caucus in with the Democrats suggests that he intends to support primary challenges to Freedom Caucus members in the upcoming 2018 mid-term elections.
