Eric Greitens Blasts Political Establishment At CPAC

Former Gov. Eric Greitens (R-MO), who is running for U.S. Senate, blasted the political elite during his CPAC 2022 speech, stating that the Democrat agenda would “destroy our country”.

“A lot of folks in the mainstream media, some RINOs, might say, you know, this is just because Joe Biden is senile and Kamala Harris is incompetent,” Greitens declared. “And that’s true, they are. But it’s more than that. No one is this stupid.”

Greitens also accused the Democrats of implementing “COVID tyranny” and emphasized that Republicans needed to be bold in order to emerge victorious in the “fight for the soul of our country”.

Greitens is currently leading polls in Missouri’s U.S. Senate race, where he is set to face U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), U.S. Rep. Billy Long (R-MO) and state Attorney General Eric Schmitt (R-MO). These three candidates are largely associated with the establishment wing of the party, whereas Greitens has long presented himself as a loyal ally of President Trump and particularly Trump’s populist firebrand former adviser, Steve Bannon.

Schmitt also addressed the CPAC conference, emphasizing his record as a litigator against the Biden administration.

“My job, ladies and gentlemen, is pretty simple. Each day I wake up, I go to the office, I sue Joe Biden, I go home,” Schmitt added. “Then I get up the next day, I sue Joe Biden, I go home again.”

It remains to be seen whether Greitens will emerge victorious in his Senate race. Greitens’ platform includes a tough stance on immigration, a pledge to stay out of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and a willingness to vote against party leaders such as Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
