Senator Elizabeth Warren rewards House Democratic slumber party with capitalist Dunkin Donuts treats

/

Senator Elizabeth Warren has a huge following on the left. She is widely considered a progressive hero, even if she is backing AP-nominated candidate Hillary Clinton over the true progressive and fellow Senate colleague Bernie Sanders. Her fiery rhetoric mirrors that of Senator Sanders, with hatred thrown at Wall Street and other rich people, while calling for massive minimum wage hikes.

Yesterday, Civil Rights leader and Congressman John Lewis led a so-called “sit-in” on the House of Representatives floor. With catering and being pampered, it hardly qualifies as a legitimate protest or sit-in and is more accurately a slumber party.

As House Democrats sit on their cell phones collecting massive paychecks with excellent benefits, Democrats celebrate this lazy publicity stunt by showering them with praise and delivering for them. The whole aim of this slumber party and publicity stunt was to raise awareness for their push to eliminate due process.

To this point, House Speaker Paul Ryan has refused to allow a vote on legislation that would make it so terrorist watch lists could be used to undermine due process and deny constitutional rights based on pure suspicion. Because some people still do believe in due process, the “sit-in” occurred.

But what’s a “sit-in” without food, catering, and bathroom breaks? Well, it’s about the coziest “protest” by a wealthy bunch of people. Pizza, candy, snacks and other treats were dropped off for the grown adults who were laying around the floor of the House of Representatives chamber throwing a temper tantrum by playing on their cell phones.

Best slumber party in American history.

Among those showing up to help out the protest slumber party was Senator Warren, who delivered Dunkin Donuts to them. Note that this is the same Elizabeth Warren who felt the federal minimum wage should be up to $22 an hour. The argument Senator Warren made was that as productivity increases, the minimum wage should have increased with it.

Dunkin Donuts also has a CEO who came out against minimum wage hikes, declaring even $15 an hour “outrageous.” Nigel Travis, the company CEO, said a conversation about better wages should occur, but that a jump in minimum wage would be bad for business.

This is all relevant because it shows, once again, that Senator Warren is a hypocrite. If we are to believe that businesspeople, businesses in general, and anyone who can be considered rich is evil, why feed their business?

This isn’t entirely surprising that Senator Warren didn’t stand firm on her progressive principles, considering she is supporting AP-nominated candidate Hillary Clinton for President. Clinton, while a registered Democrat, is hardly considered progressive. She is at best an establishment liberal who is more in line with the Democratic brand than progressive principles.

Senator Bernie Sanders supporters beware.

Regardless, the capitalist cause thanks you for your business, Senator Warren. Dunkin Donuts CEO Nigel Travis took the correct position when he stated a minimum wage hike to $15 would be a huge hit for small businesses and franchises. It’s logical to assume that seven dollars more on that figure would be devastating.
