Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) has announced his endorsement of Judge Roy Moore for United States Senate in Alabama in a statement released by the Moore campaign.
“Roy Moore has more political spine than anyone I know,” Massie said. “He has twice chosen to lose his job than compromise his principles. He is a man willing to stand up to the out of control courts and help us return to the limited government outlined in our Constitution.”
“I give him my full support and look forward to having him as a stalwart colleague in the Senate,” Massie continued.
In the same statement, Moore responded by saying he was “honored” to have Massie’s support. He described Massie as a “fighter for limited government” and praised him for being “one of the few men willing to stand up to the failed leadership of John Boehner.” Like Massie, Moore said that if elected, he would “not go to the Senate to be a yes man for the establishment.”
Massie’s endorsement is notable, given that he is the first prominent figure within the libertarian-leaning wing of the party to back Moore. While Moore’s core support comes from Evangelical voters, he has sought to build a coalition of anti-establishment right, including fiscal conservatives and nationalists, in order to beat Luther Strange, a Mitch McConnell-backed establishment crony, in the September 26 primary runoff. The Massie endorsement follows that of several other prominent Republican figures, including Steve Bannon, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, and Freedom Caucus leaders Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan. Given Alabama’s status as a safe Republican state, it is almost certain that the Republican nominee will go on to win the general election in November, although the Democrats have vowed to contest it should Moore be the nominee.
This is the only one who voted against Paul Ryan for Speaker of the House. His statement was …… the people voted for change. Speaker ryan doesn’t represent change. my vote is NAY.
Right on!
Good job Congressman Thomas Massie
Young Americans for Liberty won’t be happy about this Shane G Trejo lol
A guy who claims to stand for freedom of liberty endorsing a man who thinks religion supercedes the constitution. Sad frankly. Roy Moore is unfit for any office.
Oh my! Heaven help us if Moore is elected. He failed to kowtow to a federal judge. “Moore was elected to the position of Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2001, but removed from his position in November 2003 by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary for refusing to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments commissioned by him from the Alabama Judicial Building, despite orders to do so by a federal court.” – wikipedia
Agreed. Yet another reason why Massie is my least favorite RLC Republican.
You’re both idiots.
Roy Moore is a strict Constitutionalist.
