Carlson Says Griffin’s Victimhood Attempt Is Symptomatic of the Left As A Whole

Despite condemnations from liberals, Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson asserted on his program, “Tucker Carlson Tonight”, on Friday, that liberal comedian Kathy Griffin represents “the perfect embodiment of what the modern left believes.”

Griffin recently came under fire for posing in a picture in which she held up a replica of the bloodied severed head of President Donald Trump.

There was an immediate backlash from not only conservatives but liberals as well. Chelsea Clinton tweeted, “This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president.”
Senator Al Franken of Minnesota also condemned the photo, stating that it was “inappropriate and not something that should be “ in “our public discourse.” Franken withdrew his invitation from her to participate in an event promoting his new book, “Giant of the Senate.”

Her former New Years Eve co-host Anderson Cooper also denounced the picture, writing, “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.”

Although initially apologizing and “begging for forgiveness,” Griffin next held a press conference after the backlash which wavered between repeating her apologies about the photo to claiming the Trump family had bullied her.

President Trump tweeted that the photo upset his 11-year-old son Barron:

“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick.”
Despite all the criticism toward the 56-year-old comedian from liberals, Tucker Carlson believes this “third rate unfunny comedian” is exhibit A in the hypocrisies of a Left claiming victimhood status.”

By portraying herself in the press conference as “the one who’s been wronged” after victimizing the Trump family with the photo, Carlson said that Griffin is merely engaging in the “modern equivalent of holiness” that “excuses anything.”

Noting that “liberals are always the victims” even when “rich and pampered,” Carlson cited the example of Hillary Clinton recently complaining that “sexism prevented her from being rich and more pampered.”

Carlson stated that even when the left commits violence, this bullying tactic followed by a hasty retreat behind victimhood is used. Of the violence carried out on Trump supporters and even bystanders with no political axe to grind by ant-Trump protesters, some of whom are masked, Carlson stated that the left will “punch you in the face and claim assault.”
