There Are Fewer School Shootings Now Than During The 1990s

Now that I have several children, I’m often in the company of other parents who talk about the way things “used to be.” When the issue of child safety comes up, I hear parents sadly shake their heads and say things like “it’s not like it was when we were kids … the world is so much more dangerous now.”  Usually, the sentiment behind this idea is that there are more murders now than there used to be.  Now, I’m not exactly known for being a Pollyanna, but I am willing to admit when things are not, in fact, getting… Keep Reading

Rep. Thomas Massie Opposes Trump’s ‘Draconian’ Gun Control Proposal

President Donald Trump has indicated that he will pursue gun control measures following the massacre in Parkland, FL, but one of his top supporters in Congress has a much different idea for reform. He has filed the “SAFER Voter Act” to empower more law-abiding citizens to be able to carry firearms. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced the SAFER Voter Act (H.R. 5112) to end a federal prohibition on adults aged 18 to 20 that is stopping them from being able to buy handguns from Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders. Massie thinks that the 2nd Amendment should not be up for… Keep Reading

What’s Next For Gun Policy Reform?

With pressure on both the administration and congressional leaders to move forward with gun policy reforms, it was no surprise that Monday’s White House Press briefing received a myriad of questions regarding President Trump’s position on various gun policy proposal. President Trump has met with students and parents of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School, state Governors, and NRA leader Wayne LaPierre to discuss the initiation of safer schools and communities. According to Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, the goal of the administration is to “protect the rights of law-abiding Americans, while keeping guns out of the hands of those who pose a… Keep Reading

Making Of a Tragedy: The Cowards Of Broward County

In the wake of all mass shootings, the predictable exhortation from the conservative corner of our national discourse is to wait before injecting politics into the discussion. It’s out of respect for the dead, it’s an instinct to not use these tragic victims as political footballs. This isn’t a competition between dueling ideologies. The Left has no such qualms about instantly leaping to their emotionally charged conclusions and maybe they have a point. Maybe it’s more disrespectful to the victims to not politicize their untimely deaths. Maybe the most respectful thing we could do is to leap directly into action.… Keep Reading

Assault Weapons: America’s Final Barrier To Tyranny

In what has become a grim routine, some sickeningly look to capitalize on the mass outpouring of anger and grief following mass shootings to push a political agenda – namely, the implementation of so-called “common-sense” gun control. Debates on the issue, much like the recent town-hall discussion hosted by CNN, regularly devolve into kangaroo courts where those who oppose “common-sense” reforms are interrogated, bullied, and demonized. “If you’re not with us, you’re with the child murderers,” is their slogan of choice. President Trump Pays Lip Service To 2nd Amendment At CPAC While Pushing Gun Control

President Trump largely neglected to mention his new push for gun control during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. He instead touted his conservative record while hammering familiar targets such as the Democrats, globalist trade deals, and the fake news media. “No President has ever cut so many regulations in their entire term that we have cut in less than a year,” Trump said. He spent most of his speech talking about the economic progress America has made during his tenure regarding deregulation, energy, tax cuts, and other issues. Trump claimed that his government would never… Keep Reading

One Day Prior To Addressing CPAC, President Trump Endorses Gun Control

President Donald Trump is prepared to address the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) tomorrow to talk about his ‘America First’ agenda. This talk will happen a day following a crucial flip-flop regarding gun control that has angered his conservative base. Previously an ardent supporter of firearm freedom, Trump has done a reversal following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida last week that claimed 17 lives. Under the pressure, he is now endorsing increased restrictions to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment. “I will be strongly pushing Comprehensive Background Checks with an emphasis on Mental Health. Raise age to 21 and end… Keep Reading

Security Works At Disney — But Can’t Work At a Public School?

An odd thing has happened. Advocates for gun control have actually begun arguing against practical measures addressing school security. Rather than take strategies that can be implemented virtually immediately, and which address the dangers in a specific place in a common-sense way, gun control advocates would rather focus on a political victory at some point in the future and continue to leave schools without proper security measures.  The general argument is that any effort at meaningful security is unacceptable because it turns schools into “fortresses.” Numerous examples of this line of reasoning can be found on Twitter. They are often remarkably similar… Keep Reading

Thomas Massie: NRA “Duped” By Leftist “Bait And Switch” Into Supporting Gun Control!

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is fighting mad that the majority of Republicans are supporting gun control in the House and Senate. The Fix NICS bill, endorsed by the NRA and supported by all but 10 GOP lawmakers in the House, is a deceptive gun control measure that was paired with concealed carry reciprocity in order to bamboozle conservatives, Massie argues. Massie claims that the NRA was even working behind the scenes to bully legislators with threats into voting for Fix NICS as it was, preventing the gun control provisions of the legislation from being separated from concealed carry reciprocity. According… Keep Reading

Rep. Thomas Massie Vs. The NRA: Who Is Right On Federal Gun Control?

The National Rifle Association (NRA) is taking Rep. Thomas Massie to task over statements he made on his Facebook account this weekend regarding H.R. 4477, the Fix-NICS bill. “As Chairman of the Second Amendment Caucus, I’m blowing the whistle on the swamp,” Massie said. He believes that H.R. 4477, and its Senate counterpart introduced by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), will “expand the national background check database.” The NRA is coming out against Massie to stand with leftist gun control fanatics Feinstein and Schumer in favor of this federal regulatory power-grab. Gun Control Wouldn’t Work In America

Another spat of mass shootings, and the same old arguments for and against gun control have sprung up like clockwork. Since we all know this isn’t really going to affect anything, allow me to give my two cents on this issue: Gun control would never work in America (and I specify strictly WITHIN the United States). Not only will it not happen in the United States, it would NOT fix the violent crime problem were it to be passed. First of all, yes, it is true that some other nations in the similar economic “level” as the USA have strict… Keep Reading

Leftist Newspaper Calls For Mass Gun Confiscation

In response to the shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas last week, an opinion piece in The Boston Globe has called for the mass confiscation of millions of legally purchased firearms, arguing it is “far and away the most effective approach” to stop mass shootings. In a piece aptly titled “Hand over your weapons,” the Globe’s David Scharfenberg criticized congressional Democrats for their gun control proposals–namely universal background checks and a so-called assault weapons ban–declaring the proposals as “not just difficult to enact in the current political climate; their practical effects would also be quite limited.” “In other words, the proposals… Keep Reading

Netflix’s ‘The Punisher’ Is Newest Hollywood Vehicle To Promote Gun Control Agenda

On Nov. 17, Netflix will debut The Punisher on its streaming service. Having already been foreshadowed in other Marvel programs, The Punisher is about a vigilante named Frank Castle who goes outside the law to dole out punishment to evil doers using military weapons. Leading actor Jon Bernthal indicated in a recent interview that the show will push a gun control agenda. “I hope, more than anything else, that people will recognize the gravity of this problem, and I’m just hoping a dialogue will be opened,” Bernthal said during an interview with the USA Today. Bernthal hopes that The Punisher… Keep Reading

Rep. Thomas Massie Calls Out NRA Traitors For ‘Horrible’ Gun Control Scheme

After the massacre at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas claimed the lives of 60 people this weekend with hundreds more being wounded, the National Rifle Association (NRA) capitulated to their opponents and gave their full support for new gun control measures meant to ban bump stocks. This is completely unacceptable in the eyes of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), the liberty-minded legislator who was voted into office because of the momentum of the Ron Paul revolution and tea party movement. He was sent to office to stand for the Constitution, not to turn his back on it as soon as… Keep Reading

Mike Lee Stands Firm Against Gun Control As Rand Paul Wavers After Las Vegas Shooting

In the wake of a Las Vegas massacre that is being called the deadliest mass shooting in American history, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has indicated that he would “look at” banning bump stocks which were reportedly used by the gunman on Sunday to commit his attack. “We’re looking at that too. I wasn’t familiar with them until this came up. So we’re looking at that and studying the issue,” Paul said as he was questioned by a reporter regarding the possibility of passing Congressional legislation banning bump stocks. “It’s a terrible tragedy, and we should look at it.” “Bump stocks”… Keep Reading

Even After The Las Vegas Attack, Gun Control Remains An Irrational Response

Upon hearing about the events in Las Vegas, I, like everyone else, was shocked and distraught. What happened was a horrible event beyond basic human comprehension. Additionally, Stephen Paddock, the gunman who took his own life, is an abhorrent human being who deserved death. Despite my anger, I applaud those who willingly donated blood and started campaigns to help the victims of this attack. Now, in an ideal society, we would all come together to voluntarily help those who have suffered and fight the very cause of these events. Unfortunately, in our society we have to deal with those who… Keep Reading

In The Wake Of Orlando: What Gun Laws Actually Make Sense?

The recent shooting in the Orlando, Florida LGBT nightclub was tragic and heartbreaking, not just for the LGBT community, but for anyone in America who felt solidarity and actually gave a damn. But as usual, the afterglow of tragedy was swiftly upheaved and manipulated for political argumentation – never mind the fact that the blood hadn’t even cooled; the suits in Washington felt it necessary to stand on the graves as soapboxes and promulgate yet another anti-gun push. President Obama stated that same day during his press conference what a shame it was that the “type” of gun used in the… Keep Reading

Rand Paul’s Former Chief Of Staff Exposes Liberal Hypocrisy On Gun Control

Late yesterday afternoon, the Senate voted on 4 separate gun related amendments to the Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations Act. The four amendments, two sponsored by Republicans and two sponsored by Democrats, were each voted down largely along party lines. The legislation followed a week that started with a shooting in Orlando, Florida that left 50 people dead and more than 50 injured and ended with a 15-hour filibuster by Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) during which he preached “common sense gun reform”. Murphy’s amendments, which were proposed along with Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), would prevent anyone on the “terror watch… Keep Reading
