A pro-Trump organization known as The Trumpettes has announced that it raised $50,000 for the re-election campaign of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) at an event at the President’s Mar-a-Lago club in West Palm Beach on Friday.
Sen. Paul spoke at the fundraiser about tackling the rise of socialism in the United States, and how the Republican Party can reach beyond its traditional base in the upcoming November elections. The total attendance at the event was reported to be around 60.
Other speakers at the fundraiser included the President’s son, Donald Trump Jr., his girlfriend and former Fox News personality Kimberley Guilfoyle, and 2016 Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
The Trumpettes, a fundraising group comprised largely of wealthy South Florida socialites and debutantes, has been active in recent months in fundraising for the President and several of his key political allies.
Toni Holt Kramer, the founder of the organization, explained the importance of wealthy Trump supporters raising funds for Sen. Paul.
“Why would people in Florida care about a senator from Kentucky?” Kramer told the Palm Beach Post. “Because they understand the political game, they understand the political system. Without the House and Senate going red, it will tie the president’s hands. We don’t want that. We want him to be able to run the country.”
