Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has suggested that former President Barack Obama “knew about the corruption” of Hunter Biden while in office, during a Wednesday appearance on Fox News.
“There’s been rumors for quite a while that people within the Obama administration knew about the corruption problems with Hunter Biden, that they warned the Vice President and maybe even the President about it,” Paul told Fox News’ Ed Henry. “I think that there could be a smoking gun, that there’s actually a record of some of these complaints that were going on at the time.”
Paul went on to directly accuse Obama of having knowledge of Hunter Biden’s activities.
“There have been some articles quoting unnamed sources saying that they were assistants and people around Joe Biden at the time – that this Hunter Biden looks bad and you should really put a stop to it – and they never did,” he continued. “But I think even President Obama knew about this, so it’s not surprising to me that he would try to keep a lid on it and not let any records come to the public.”
Paul’s remarks come after Obama sent a letter to the National Archives urging them to withhold the release of presidential documents on Ukraine to Senate Republican investigators. The letter went to accuse Senate Republicans of giving “credence to a Russian disinformation campaign” by looking into Hunter Biden.
