Sen. Mike Lee: Judge Roy Moore’s ‘Tested Reputation Of Integrity’ Sorely Needed In Washington D.C.

When Judge Roy Moore defeated his establishment-backed opponent, Luther Strange in a GOP Senate primary last month in Alabama, conservatives were jumping for joy. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is particularly ecstatic about having another ally slated to join him in Washington D.C., and recently extended his official endorsement.

“If there was ever a time to ensure that Republicans maintain a seat in the United States Senate, it is now,” Lee said. “That is why I am proudly endorsing Judge Roy Moore for United States Senate. Alabamians have the chance to send a proven, conservative fighter to the United States Senate and I am more than ready to welcome a trusted ally.

Judge Moore was removed as chief justice of the Alabama supreme court on two separate occasions when he would not allow government edicts to supersede his faith. Lee believes that this is the type of courageous mindset sorely needed in Washington D.C.

“Judge Moore’s tested reputation of integrity is exactly what we need in Washington D.C. in order to pass conservative legislation and protect the liberty of all Americans,” Lee said.

Before the primary election, Moore had stated that he would stand alongside Lee as well as Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) as a powerful conservative voting bloc in the Senate. He has already started shaking things up in Washington D.C., largely ignoring establishment GOP leaders during his first visit to Capitol Hill.

“Senator Lee has staunchly defended our constitutional liberties in the United States Senate and I am honored to receive his support and endorsement,” Moore said yesterday. “I am eager to work alongside of him in the United States Senate to ensure our national security, cut government spending, and defend our Constitution.”

In order to get in the Senate, Judge Moore must vanquish his Democratic opponent. He will face off against Doug Jones, a former U.S. Attorney who served under Clinton. Early polling shows that Moore is enjoying an eight point lead for the election that will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017. Endorsements from prominent conservative leaders such as Lee will only help Judge Moore’s chances to become Senator.
