The highly politicized Southern Poverty Law Center keeps a list of “Terror From the Right” attacks. SPLC describes the list as a “detailed listing of major terrorist plots and racist rampages that have emerged from the American radical right.” Included on that list are Dallas police shooter Micah Xavier Johnson and Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen.
Mateen, a security officer from Florida, opened fire inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, FL. He killed fifty individuals, including himself, and left scores more injured. Rumored to be a gay former patron of Pulse, Mateen called 911 during the attack, making references to Allah and pledging allegiance to ISIS. It was the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11 and the most lethal mass-shooting in our history.
Then-presidential candidate Donald J. Trump responded to the attack by delivering a scathing speech, one of his best ever, in which he denounced radical Islam as “anti-woman, anti-gay, and anti-American.” Indeed, many on the right shared in his harsh criticism of radical Islam’s treatment of gay individuals, which includes gay folks being tossed from the highest roof and stoned to death in many sharia-law zones. The left media responded, by at first blaming homophobic right-wingers for the attack. Then, when we found out the attacker was a Muslim, they resorted to the catch-all of islamophobia.
The most stunning person on the list was not Omar Mateen; the Left routinely blames acts of terrorism on right wing islamophobia. Rather, Micah Xavier Johnson seemed the most out of place among the likes of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and Ku Klux Klan member and Jewish Community Center shooter Frazier Glenn Cross. Johnson voiced support for Black Lives Matter and black separatism before shooting and killing five police officers in Dallas, TX.
The attack, which took place during an anti-police protest in July, also left seven officers injured. Johnson said he planned to “kill white people”. Conservatives responded by bashing Black Lives Matter and the anti-police rhetoric it espoused. President Obama took advantage of the occasion in order to lecture Americans about ‘implicit bias’ in law enforcement during a memorial ceremony for the attack’s victims.
Also included on the list was Gavin Eugene Long, member of a “black sovereign citizen” group who ambushed and killed three police officers in Baton Rouge, LA just days after the Dallas attack. He was listed below the four men in Minnesota who viciously attacked protesters from Black Lives Matter in Minneapolis last November.
The fact that both a racism-based attack and a radical Islamic attack should be included on a list of “right-wing terrorism” comes as no surprise. Leftists have been blaming conservatives for terrorism since the days of John F. Kennedy. After Kennedy’s death, The Soviet Union blamed “Barry Goldwater and other extremists on the right.” The left uses Kennedy’s death to shame and blame conservatives to this day. Unfortunately for them, Kennedy’s killer turned out to be Lee Harvey Oswald, a pro-Cuban communist. Jackie Kennedy, at first eager to blame her husband’s death on Republicans, lamented that Kennedy had not been killed by a racist, but rather a “silly little communist”.
Both sides of the aisle are guilty of using terrorist attacks to push an agenda, but there’s only one side which continually blames violence on the other. As unfortunate as it is, the Left will keep using these heinous acts of violence for more than just pushing gun control. They will continue to point the finger at conservatives whenever national tragedy strikes, even engaging in the idiocy of faulting conservatives with a Black Lives Matter vigilante’s actions. We can’t stop this blaming asininity, but we can restrain from engaging in the reverse ourselves.
Ironically, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s own scrupulously accurate “hate group” count, “black hate groups” make up the single largest category in the country today.
According to the SPLC, black hate groups, the majority of which are Muslim, outnumber the KKK outright, by 24% and all neo-Nazi, white separatist and racist skinhead groups COMBINED.
