MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt Apologizes For Celebrating Rand Paul’s Assault, But Is It Enough?

Over the last year, the mainstream media has taken the reputation of having a liberal bias and cemented it. While it may have just been a conservative cliché to drop the allegation in the past, the trope has become a painfully obvious reality in the last year.

For this reason, CNN was labeled the Clinton News Network by many on the right. MSNBC has always held strong as cable’s premiere liberal network, not even attempting to hide their ridiculous bias. With the likes of Rachel Maddow, the network has been firm in its opposition to the right.

But things have gone too far over the last year, and that’s been shown more recently by the shameful actions of liberal newsreader Kasie Hunt.

Senator Rand Paul was assaulted at his home weeks ago, something that left him with serious injuries including multiple broken ribs. This was not the first attack on a Republican lawmaker, as Rep. Steven Scalise was shot by a radical left-wing activist earlier in the year. He was lucky to survive.

While we’re all free to disagree on politics, violence is one thing that people should come together and denounce. If liberals disagree with Paul on policy, that is their right as a free American. But to either engage in violence as his attacker did or support that attack is wrong. But in a heinously unprofessional move, that’s just what Kasie Hunt did.

She jubilantly stated on live MSNBC TV that new details showed Senator Paul suffered six broken ribs and that it was her favorite news story. Although she toned down her enthusiasm, Hunt continued on without showing any remorse for celebrating violence against a sitting U.S. Senator. She would eventually backtrack via a tweet, stating there is nothing funny about six broken ribs.

There is certainly nothing humorous in six broken ribs. There is nothing good about violence, and there is certainly no reason to celebrate an assault on a lawmaker simply because of a political disagreement.

So is Kasie Hunt’s apology enough?

It’s important to understand what happened here. When on the air, Hunt clearly spoke from the heart. It was her honest belief that it was a good thing someone broke six of Senator Paul’s ribs. She thought it was funny. She saw no problems with it whatsoever.

That only changed after the cameras turned off. What happened? She either miraculously saw the light very quickly or her network bosses told her that celebrating violence was not going to be tolerated. In the case of the latter, she shouldn’t be complimented when she still likely believes there are no issues here.

On that point, no the apology is not enough. MSNBC should yank the cord on Hunt’s show and pull her off the air.

Political tensions are running high and they only escalate with each passing day. Last year, liberals criticized President Donald Trump numerous times for allegedly inciting violence. They would say because of his divisive behavior he should not be running for President. If this is the case, why should Kasie Hunt be allowed to stay on the air after celebrating violence on national television?

MSNBC has a clear choice: either stand firm against violence and pull Kasie Hunt, or become an agency that tacitly supports terrorism.

  1. Yes. Anyone with a brain could tell it was the reason for the assault she found funny not the assault. Getting furious over law clippings is funny. Come on snowflakes get a grip.
