Netanyahu’s Son On Charlottesville: “Thugs Of Antifa And BLM” Are The Problem

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu, has denounced the left-wing groups involved in the Charlottesville unrest on August 12, according a report by Haaretz.

“The thugs of Antifa and BLM who hate my country (and America too in my view) just as much are getting stronger and stronger and becoming super dominant in American universities and public life,” Netanyahu wrote on Facebook.

Antifa and BLM (Black Lives Matter) were two of the main groups involved in the violent counter-protest against ‘Unite The Right’, a gathering of activists opposed to the removal of the statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee from a park in Charlottesville, Virginia. They were joined by other far-left extremists such as the Revolutionary Communist Party and the Workers World Party, both of which have previously openly sympathized with totalitarian communist regimes abroad.

Some of the individuals supporting retaining the monument in Charlottesville included neo-Nazi activists. Although Netanyahu described them as “scum”, he suggested that the threat they posed was largely minimal compared to that of the hard-left.

“They belong to the past. Their breed is dying out,” he stated.

Although some members of the alt-right would likely dispute his claim that they are irrelevant, it is certainly true that these individuals do not have anywhere near the institutional support of their leftist rivals, who boast the backing of the mainstream news media, Hollywood, and academia.

Yair Netanyahu has frequently expressed right-wing views on social media in the past, reportedly comparing a group he alleged was funded by “Soros and the European Union” to the “Bolsheviks”, and accusing the son of left-leaning former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of having a homosexual relationship with a Palestinian.
