During Sunday’s debate, Hillary Clinton accused the Russians of tampering with the elections. Her exact words were “We have never in the history of our country been in a situation where an adversary of foreign power is working so hard to influence the outcome of the elections and they are not doing it to get me elected. They are doing it to influence the election for Donald Trump.”
REALLY? Do you really expect the American people to believe that a foreign government has never attempted to tamper with U.S. elections? If there has never been a problem with foreign governments trying to influence U.S. elections, why does the Federal Election Commission have so many rules prohibiting foreigners from donating to U.S. campaigns?
The fear of foreign influence in U.S. elections was debated during the 1787 Philadelphia Constitutional Convention. A few years later, the U.S. Congress passed the Alien and Sedition Act which, among other things, was designed to make it harder for immigrants to vote. The Alien and Sedition Act was passed in an attempt to eliminate the fear that the French would interfere with U.S. elections.
Hillary Clinton has been around in politics long enough to experience foreign involvement with U.S. elections.
Does Hillary Clinton think that the American people have forgotten the election of 1996? In 1996, Ng Lap Seng, a Chinese billionaire, tried to illegally funnel over a million dollars into her husband’s campaign for president. Do you remember Hillary complaining about China’s attempt to “buy” the election for her husband?
Does Hillary Clinton think that the America people have forgotten about Al Gore’s 1996 visit to the His Lai Temple in California? This Buddhist temple was caught trying to violate campaign finance laws as Al Gore received over $55,000 in donations. Bill Clinton’s response to this scandal was “I believe what [Gore] did was legal”.
Does Hillary Clinton really think that the American People do not understand that the Clinton Foundation receiving millions of dollars in donations from foreign governments while she was Secretary of State does not have an impact on her judgment? The American people are smart enough to understand that a gift of millions of dollars to a non-profit that you control was made at the very least to ensure goodwill with the Secretary of State.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
Hillary Clinton would not be complaining about Russia’s involvement in the election if the hacks were covering Donald Trump’s computer and his emails. Hillary is complaining about Russia’s involvement because the spotlight has been turned on her and her behavior. Hillary would like to deflect America’s attention from her to the big bad Russians.
If WikiLeaks was releasing Donald Trump’s emails, we would be hearing Clinton praising the hackers for doing a service to this country by helping us discover the real Donald Trump. Clinton is playing on the fears of Americans by trying to blame the Russian involvement in hacking computers rather than focusing upon her actions of questionable behavior. A classic deflection strategy used by politicians.
As a result of the WikiLeaks disclosures, Americans have learned that the DNC rigged the election in favor of Hillary, released excerpts of paid speeches that Bernie Sanders had tried to get her to release but she refused, and that her campaign actively sought to “elevate” Trump in the Republican primary as a “Pied Piper Candidate”.
If the shoe were on the other foot, Hillary Clinton would be saying that the leaked emails reveal that Donald Trump is “not fit to be president and commander in chief”. She would be saying the same thing about the released Trump emails as she is saying right now about the leaked sex talk tapes.
Isn’t Hillary Clinton the candidate who claims that she wanted “to have a much more transparent government, and I think we now have the tools to make it happen”? It appears to me that Hillary Clinton is getting her wish for a more transparent government. Her secret emails and those of her associates are being released for the world to see. What Clinton did not want us to see, we are all able to see.
Hillary Clinton, you talked the talk and asked for more transparent government, now walk the walk and explain to us why you think your desire to be President of the United States allows you to commit so many unethical, duplicitous, and questionable practices. America is supposed to be a self-governing nation and you seem to be unable to govern your own actions. If you cannot govern your own actions, what qualifies you to serve as this nation’s commander in chief?
